Online & In-Person Choir and The Livingroom Jam Series! September 22 – December 15
The Village Choir is thrilled to announce a diverse set of programming for our adapted 2020 Autumn Season.
In addition to small in-person choral rehearsals with rotating choir “pods”, The Village Choir has focused on providing the most engaging, educational and flat-out awesome online experience.
Between The Living Room Jam Series, which brings great Canadian Singers and Songwriters into your home, as well as live-streams of our regular choir rehearsals, folks at home will get the full choir experience! Streamers will hear all the parts and laugh along with the usual shenanigans of a Village Choir rehearsal.
Everyone will be given the opportunity to join us in-person during the season (distanced and in masks), but ALL content will be streamed online and archived for your convenience. A “virtual recital” video will be created in December to culminate the season.
NEW this season: Living Room Jam Series
Twice monthly, alternating with our regular choir practice, we will be celebrating some of Canada’s top Folk, Blues, Soul, and Country artists. And here’s the kicker… these incredible performers will be joining us as special online guests! That’s right, we will be learning songs by iconic Canadian artists such as The Wailin’ Jennys, Small Glories, Leeroy Stagger, Dawn Pemberton, and Carmanah, and the original singers and writers will be joining us in the latter half of the sessions to lead their songs and do a short Q&A with The Village Choir.
These sessions will be available for drop-in for anyone who wishes to join us as well, so do invite your friends!
So, this is how the season will work:
Starting September 22, we will meet every Tuesday from 7:00pm-8:00pm (PST) and starting September 29 we will be alternating between choir practice and the Living Room Jam Series. This will give us seven sessions for learning choir repertoire, leading up to one or two virtual montage “recital” videos. Our plan for these sessions is to meet in person with small choir “pods” of 12 at KWENCH(2031 Store st.) so that all of the parts will be represented for those streaming from home. This will allow everyone to hear the entire arrangement no matter where you are, while also giving us the chance to meet with as many of you as possible.
Choir “pods” will rotate bi-weekly, so that anyone who would like to join in-person can do so at least once (and hopefully more!) during the season. Those of us meeting in person will be asked to follow strict COVID-conscious protocols including physical distancing, sanitizing and mask wearing. There is no expectation or pressure for you to join us in-person, and all content will be designed to work well for those of you who would prefer to join us exclusively online.
Finally, to celebrate the season, we will be hosting a physically distanced and live-streamed outdoor carolling social for the choir on Dec 15th.
We are offering the entire season for a registration fee of $130. Sign up here →https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/the-village-choir-autumn-2020-season-tickets-118662271047?aff=Website
